Nothing brings in the holiday season like a nice wreath for your door.
I’ ve driven by this home many times over the years. This month the family has wreaths , swags, center pieces, bird houses and much more. In the summer time during the Art’s Festival, it’s a whole different collection of art work. Gabriel and her family have been doing these kinds of events for 3 generations. She grew up watching her grandfather and then her father making items to sell. Now, she is now showing her children the importance of the holiday spirit. As she said, it’s been a family tradition. Its fun and we get the whole family involved.
So check out the street stand at 736 Dayton Street. Some of the proceeds are donated to the Toy Shop.

This time of year brings lots of holiday greetings, parties and times of connecting with family and friends. The lights, decorations, stores loaded with gift items all bring a smile to our faces as we hustle and bustle about.
Come on down to the Main Street Fountain. Lights galore, the trees are wrapped in lights, roof tops topped with lights. From the fountain look down 5th Ave S, then look up 5th Ave N. Lights all over. Now look up Main Street, then look down to the Ferry.
In Edmonds, “It’s a wonderful Life”.

Nestled in a picturesque community…the Edmonds Conference Center is a unique 10,000 square foot facility featuring a large banquet room and other thoughtfully designed event rooms flooded with natural light.
A perfect venue for…Meetings ~ Seminars ~ Retreats ~ Receptions ~ Banquets ~ Weddings ~ Memorial Services ~ Fundraising Events
A Brief History of the Edmonds Conference Center
In 1997, Edmonds Community College received the Edmonds Floral Conference Center from generous donors, Ed and Maude Hodgson. The Hodgsons, longtime residents of Edmonds and South Snohomish County, traveled throughout the United States judging chrysanthemums. They have two hybrid varieties named for them. “Ed Hodgson” is a white flower spotted with yellow or cream flecks. “Maude Hodgson” is a brilliant red flower. Mums were not only their passion but that of their club, “Fun with Mums.”
Ed and Maude had a dream to have a local facility that was open to the community for activities of all types. This dream took shape on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Bell Street in downtown Edmonds. The Center is a unique 10,000 square foot facility featuring a large banquet/exhibition hall, meeting rooms, public facilities, offices and an open atrium – all flooded with natural light.
In 2004, with Ed’s blessing and the recognition that the Center had truly evolved as a multi-use facility, the name was changed to the Edmonds Conference Center.

Ezell’s Famous Chicken has been bringing Seattle its best fried chicken for over 20 years. With a recipe right out of America’s South and a genuine dedication to quality, we’ve won the chicken-hungry hearts of Seattleites and people the world over!
THE EZELL’S STORY
Ezell’s Famous Chicken was started over 20 years ago, and is a family-owned and operated business.
The story began when Ezell got out of the Coast Guard in 1978, having come to Seattle from Texas. Shortly thereafter, he called his boyhood friend Lewis, while Lewis was still in the Army. Together they decided that, after Lewis left the service, they’d start a business making chicken like they used to back home in Texas!
Ezell and Lewis saw their mission as simple:
Provide FRESH high-quality chicken and GOOD homemade side dishes, served with FAST courteous service. In short, Ezell’s had to be Fresh, Good and Fast!

Thursday December 16th from 5-8 PM is this months Art Walk. Over 30 venues will particapate again. Visit 3rd Thursday Art Walk for walking map.
This months artist is Aleks Kargopoltsev from La Conner he will present his work at Edward Jones office at 313 Main St. By the age of 4, Aleks was drawing and by age 13 passed the rigorous tests that allowed him to enter an art school in his home town of Kostroma, about 200 miles northeast of Moscow. Aleks attended an art college in his twenties for the Masters Degree equivalency. With his life’s passion, he moved his family to the United States in 1993 and being an avid student of U.S. History, he achieved his citizenship in 1998.
Kargopoltsev produces realistic and impressionist paintings of landscapes, seascapes, still life, and portraits. Aleks paints Plein Air in the field and holds that mental image until he recaptures it back in the studio. Kargopoltsev believes that painting outdoors results in a combination of color and emotion. What you observe, know, feel, smell, taste, and touch is part of the whole painting.
Since settling in Arlington, Washington, Aleks has taught at the Andersen Center in Edmonds, Mukilteo, Tri-Dee in Mt. Vernon, The Gene Nastri Community School of the Arts, and Alek’s Studio and Art Gallery in La Conner.
Paintings by Aleksandr Kargopoltsev can be found in galleries up and down the Washington and Oregon coast, in addition to private collections around the world. For more information visit http://www.alexartstudio.com/ .

I was able to sit down with Gary Haakenson at his home to talk about his photo exhibit for the Edmonds Public Library. Starting December 16th and running through January 31st. This exhibit was created after he produced a limited quanity of photos, calendars, and books for friends. Soon after the Edmonds Arts Commission approched him to produce this exhibit.
Gary started his photography work with a simple point and shoot camera, no training, just a passion for all things beautiful. He says, “I love to shoot the sun setting in Edmonds and the ever changing colors of Puget Sound during storms.” He realized he enjoyed it and then bought himself a better camera with a lens and began with photos of the Edmonds sunsets. By posting his pictures on Facebook, he created a buzz and people started inquiring about how they could purchase his photos. From there, he started taking pictures of animals, trains, boats, flowers, his frequent trips to Arizona, and a few to Hawaii. Gary then made some calendars and limited edition books which he gave to a few close friends and Edmonds employees.
