The vision for Chanterelle has always been to serve the variety of flavorful foods we enjoy ourselves — some sophisticated and eclectic, others comforting and familiar in this wonderful old building from morning till night. We have always wanted Chanterelle to be the kind of place people would enjoy at any meal, and for any occasion, including if there’s no real occasion at all. We continue to be the place for locals to gather or treat “out of towners”; meet for a date or perhaps dine alone; bring the whole family, or leave them at home. Sometimes it’s to indulge in four courses or more, and other times just a nibble with a glass of wine or a latte’ from the espresso bar.

The Weather Center is a memorial to the late longtime Edmonds Port Commissioner and businessman, Harold “Babe” Bucklin. He was also a charter member of the Rotary Club of Edmonds, whose $5000 memorial contribution helped make the Center possible. The Center consists mainly of three computer screens. One provides real-time weather data including temperature, wind speed and direction, rainfall and barometric pressure from an array of weather instruments mounted on the roof of the adjacent restaurant building.
A unique feature is a second monitor with educational weather related information prepared by students at the Edmonds School District Home School Resource Center. The students also created two relief panels illustrating important weather related phenomena. A third monitor provides forecast and other weather links through the Internet. The Port can vary the programs and update information as needed. There is opportunity for interactive participation by the user. Watch this space for a preview of the Weather Center presentations.

If you have visited the Weather Center and have feedback or stories you would like us to know, we would appreciate your time and send us a note at info@portofedmonds.org or visit www.portofedmonds.org

What’s all the fuss about 10-10-10?

Wedding candidates looking for a perfect 10 have found what they were looking for. The numerical representation of Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, is 10-10-10. It has proved to be popular with couples planning weddings. Some even chose to take their vows at 10 a.m.

People in wedding-related businesses say the day was perhaps the most sought-after wedding date since July 7, 2007. That’s when the lucky 07-07-07 marked the calendar.

Today in the United States over 32,000 weddings will be preformed today. That’s 5 times more then on October 10, 2009.

Check out the Plaza Room above the Edmonds Libary, Edmonds Yatch Club and the Edmonds Conference Center for infromation on weddings and other events.
